Hellstern

Books written from inside a practice, not about one.

Hellstern Schwegler Press is an independent publisher in Switzerland. We publish a small number of books on contemplative practice, and we publish them slowly.

We look for manuscripts by writers who have spent long enough inside a tradition to speak in its own voice — teachers, translators, and practitioners — and we care as much about how a book is made as about what it says. Each title is edited closely with its author, set for reading rather than for shelves, and kept in print.

Our mark is an eight-pointed star: a figure that appears in the navigational and devotional traditions of many cultures, and that means, plainly, that there is more than one way to face.

For rights, review copies, and bookseller enquiries, write to our editorial address.

We read unsolicited proposals, though slowly. A letter describing the book and its reader is more useful to us than a full manuscript.
